Crazy, surprisingly emotional morning for me!
I've had my eye on this necklace for a *long* time... and earlier this year I decided that it would be my 40th birthday gift to myself IF I lost 100 pounds.
I mentioned it on Facebook a few times and posted a link to it as motivation for myself. And when I was just a pound away from my goal about a week ago, I was so excited I posted it again. And then I got a call from my brother...
He told me his girlfriend, Lori, had seen my post and they wanted to make sure I didn't buy the necklace because they were going to get it for me for my birthday!! I was blown away!! SO COOL of them! I couldn't believe it. :)
We decided that he'd order it online, have it delivered to him, and then bring it to NYC when they come for my birthday party.
Today, I got to the office after a few days away to find a couple of boxes waiting for me on my desk. This wasn't too unexpected as I've been on an eBay shopping spree lately (snapping up Avon breast cancer bears to use in my fundraising!). But when I opened the second box and found Tiffany wrapping tissue inside, I was a little bit taken aback.
Then I laughed, because clearly my brother had screwed up and had it sent to me instead of to him. But I wasn't sure what to do! I *really* wanted to open it, but I also knew he'd intended to give it to me for my party, so I didn't think I should. Then I saw the note...
The necklace wasn't from my brother! It was from an unidentified (at the time) group of my friends! I was totally shocked!! I'm not sure how I ended up with such generous friends... amazing! I'm so grateful.
And when Brett and Lori get to town, we're going to Tiffany together to exchange their necklace for something else I can wear *with* the necklace on the night of my party. :)
The especially awesome part is that now that I have the necklace I've been wanting for *so long* actually in my possession, it's given me such motivation to buckle down and get as close as humanly possible to my goal by my birthday. I *might* even go to the gym twice tomorrow.
I'm still sort of bouncing off the walls about the whole thing! :)
