Another Monday, another special benefit. ;) It's actually pretty cool... since most Broadway shows are dark on Mondays, there are plenty of theaters for stuff like this on Mondays.... so, this particular show was at the Imperial Theater, where Dirty Rotten Scoundrels usually plays. And they actually used a lot of the sets, so, that was fun.
The show, "There is Nothing Like a Dame," is a fundraiser for the Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative of The Actors’ Fund of America and features performances from many of the most exciting women on (or previously on) Broadway... including Victoria Clarke, Maria Friedman, Lauren Kennedy, Ruthie Henshell, Bebe Neuwirth, Tyne Daly, Shoshana Bean and the female ensembles from Sweeney Todd and Jersey Boys (the guys from Jersey Boys actually performed, also). It was mostly singing, except for a tribute to Wendy Wasserstein by Cynthia Nixon, Julianna Margulies and Jennifer Ehle.
Such great performances! I really enjoyed it!
