I feel like I should have taken a picture of something more momentous today--to note reaching the 5 YEAR mark in my Photo-a-day project! Yikes. Granted, I've missed some days... especially in a couple of particular patches, but, overall, I'm pretty pleased with my ability to stick to it.
In some ways, the project has stressed me out... feeling the pressure to take something *every* day, getting frustrated when I can't take the picture that would be perfect (like in a theater or the like), trying to differentiate myself from others doing the same type of project, worrying that the pictures aren't of interest to anyone but me and my closest friends, thinking they're not very "good," etc.
But, the positives have definitely outweighed the negatives... this project has definitely changed how I look at the world around me... across the country, in my city, even in my apartment. It's definitely an eye-opener and I recommend it to anybody looking for a new perspective and a disciplined exercise.
All that being said, I guess I didn't take a picture that screams "The End" because, of course, it's not. Every year I think maybe I'll quit, but, I honestly don't know if I even could! I think each year I get a little easier on myself for missing a few days here and there, but, I'll definitely start 2008 with the intention of filling every one of those little squares with a photo.
So, today's photo? Just one piece of one course of our amazing 10-course New Year's Eve dinner. But, this one was MINE... and, if I do say so myself, a far-cry from my contribution of CROUTONS a few years ago... and, even more importantly, DELICIOUS.
Pictures of the evening, including all 10 courses, are here (I've detailed each course, along with its wine pairing, in the descriptions): http://www.flickr.com/photos/lisaspo/sets/72157603597078204/
