Well, you know how I am about the hoopla... and All My Children stars singing at Town Hall seemed appropriately hoopla-ish to me. :) The event was the All My Children 35th Anniversary... and stars like Susan Lucci, David Canary, Jacob Young and Jill Larson were all on hand to celebrate and perform. I was really impressed by most of them... had no idea they could really sing... and they blew me away! A couple of exceptions, but, for the most part, WOW. AND it was for a good cause... Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The hoopla was definitely delivered... to get a sense of it, that bus has all the stars on it... and those fans are standing IN FRONT OF THE BUS!
Of course, any charity event like this is also a chance for me to "double-dip" and get some signatures for Project Teddy Bear for the Avon Walks. ;) Now, I don't really watch AMC anymore, but, I used to be a big fan... and when I was in high school watching, nobody was more important than Greg and Jenny and Jesse and Angie. So, while a lot of people in the audience were swarming some pretty young things I honestly didn't even recognize, I was thrilled to realize that Lawrence Lau (Greg) and Darnell Williams (Jesse) were sitting about 4 rows behind me. I got their signatures and pictures with the bear... along with a couple of people I didn't recognize, but, got identified for me later: Mark LaMura (Erica's brother, Mark Dalton) and John Paul Lavoisier (Rex on One Life to Live). I also got signatures (albeit without pictures :( ) from Julia Barr, Kathy Brier, Tonya Pinkins, Ray MacDonnell, and... La Lucci herself! Definitely a good start! :)
